Junior Mechanical Designer - Motorsport
The Junior Mechanical Designer supports the design and development of race car components, contributing to the full engineering lifecycle under the guidance of senior team members. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer looking to grow within a high-performance motorsport environment, gaining hands-on experience in design, development, and production processes.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies within motorsport projects
Create and modify 3D models using CAD tools, ensuring accuracy and compliance with technical requirements
Produce detailed technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing and assembly
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including purchasing and BoM functions, to support component integration
Assist in the analysis and dimensioning of components under defined load conditions
Contribute to design reviews, identifying potential improvements or issues
Follow development phases including prototyping, assembly, and testing activities
Ensure designs meet quality standards, project requirements, and deadlines
Mandatory Skills
Good knowledge of technical automotive English
Initial experience (internship or 1-2 years) in automotive or motorsport design environments
Good proficiency in CATIA V5:
Solid, Surface, and Sheet Metal Design
Assembly Design and Drafting
Basic understanding of component dimensioning and mechanical behaviour under load
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes for mechanical components
Ability to work within defined constraints (cost, timing, project priorities)
Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools
Structured approach to problem-solving and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in motorsport or high-performance automotive, including university internships, will also be considered.
