The ideal candidate will have responsibility on design and release activities in Engine Management System Components Area to develop new engine applications and to guarantee continuous quality improvement/cost reduction on existing engine families. Components under his/her responsibility will be high pressure Fuel Injection Equipment (injector, pump, rail); Diesel Exhaust Fluid injector; high pressure pipes & low pressure pipe; injector bracket; fuel damper.
Main area of activities:
Supporting on planning, coordination and follow up of design activities, Analysis Development and Validation plan, FMEA execution according to Global Product Development Timing.
Definition of technical requirements.
Assessment of supplier offers regarding technical content, timing and project requirements.
Assessment and consolidation on development/validation results.
Interaction with Product Development Team and Engine Controls teams to define functional/electrical/diagnostic requirements and strategies.
Supporting on technical releases based on BOD/BOM/BOP, ensuring that proposed/released design will meet program functionality and durability targets.
Drawing standards and data checks, including test specification and material definition and 3D design studies.
Change management process: evaluation/execution on design changes requests (coming from Manufacturing Engineering or suppliers or ), following and using GM internal tools and procedures.
Continuous product improvement and cost reduction activities planning & coordination.
Experimental activities: assessment of functional checks, component and system characterization; assessment on supplier proposal; investigation on system and component capabilities.
Master Degree in Mechanical/Electronic Engineering or Certificate
At least 3 years of experience on engine (high power density) complex components and assembly design
Good knowledge on English language (L/R/W)
o General base engine knowledge with preference for diesel engines and high pressure fuel injection system;
o Knowledge on Fuel Injector Equipment components working principle, pressure control and compensation strategies, injector and nozzle technology, impact on combustion and emission (preferred).
o Problem solving attitude and results oriented.
